Every year, usually in the fall, my family and I go on an adventure that we like to call “The Falls Loop”. It consists of Hedge Creek Falls, McCloud Falls, and Burney Falls. And every year something about me always changes. I either have gotten better at photography and will utilize a new technique, or I have obtained a better camera in which I can update or get better photos of the falls.
This year (2020) I have gotten a better camera. The Nikon P1000. It enables me to take better photos than I ever have. Two main features that helped me get better photos than last year were 6 more MP (16 MP), and the ability to shoot RAW photos. New techniques are harder to explain, but every year I use new techniques at these places.
There are a couple of other places I go to every year: Lassen National Park, and the Sundial when it is lit pink for Breast Cancer awareness. I like to think of these as tests of my gear and my skills. And every year I get better and better photos. Will I get tired of visiting these same places? Probably. I already feel that Lassen is starting to get boring. I need to research some more places to see in Lassen. And once I have the best gear that money could buy, getting the photos once would be enough.
